For General Electric’s transportation division, MC² was asked to design a new, open concept. The American company wanted to inspire visitors to the Berlin fair with a more European presentation.
The two-storey booth with an area of around 750 square meters was given a façade of glass slats and LED-controlled pillars, an airy counterbalance to the weighty exhibits on show. Giant textile panels showed GE’s locomotives actual size, and the theme Digital Railnet was emphasized in the form of an imaginary network both as a geometrical floor design as well as in the transparent textile elements used in the ceiling construction.
The highlight of an otherwise multimedia show was a GE drone hovering above a model track on the stand, but in reality designed to fly along railway tracks to inspect them for faults. “We are the digital industrial company”, is GE’s claim.
